About Us
Borer Beetles was founded in 1985 by Bob Swemmer. Through dedication and hard work
he established a reputation of honesty and thoroughness. In 2001 Johan Fourie took
over the helm and continues to operate with these values. During Bob Swemmer's
time only beetle inspections and corrective work were performed. Johan realised
the need for a one-stop service and extended Borer Beetles' value proposition to
include electrical inspections as well.
In the late 90's Johan obtained a qualification from the Forestry Department of
the University of Stellenbosch which enabled him to perform "wood destroying organism"
inspections. Apart from beetle and electrical inspections and the corrective actions
associated with these, Borer Beetles also specialises in the treatment of termites and the methyl bromide fumigation
of built-in wood, e.g. floors, roof trusses and furniture. The company is also registered in terms of ISPM15
International Regulations to do fumigation of palettes for export purposes.
The owner and staff are registered with the Department of Argriculture as pest control officials, fumigation officials and
wood destroying organism inspectors.
Johan Fourie is currently the chair person of the West and Southern Cape branch of the South African Pest Control Association.
